About Us
Winstanley College is a thriving sixth form college employing approximately 200 staff and supporting around 2,300 students. The majority of students study Level 3 programmes, including A Levels, Applied General qualifications, and a T Level.
The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Physics & Engineering Teacher to join our successful Physics Department. The department currently delivers the Edexcel A Level Physics specification and the BTEC Applied General in Engineering.
The team consists of five teachers and one technician. Candidates should be confident teaching both Physics and Engineering, although the precise timetable composition will be agreed with the successful applicant.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Plan and prepare engaging courses and lessons.
Teach classes, set and mark work, and monitor student progress.
Assess, record and report on student development, attainment and achievement.
Review and develop teaching methods, course content and assessment strategies.
Deliver enrichment activities and accompany students on educational visits.
Support high levels of attendance, retention, achievement and student satisfaction.
Participate in internal and external lesson observations
Student Support & Pastoral Care
Promote the academic progress and well-being of individual students and groups.
Provide guidance on educational, social and career matters.
Maintain appropriate student records and reports.
Communicate effectively with parents/carers and external organisations.
Curriculum & Organisation
Contribute to course development, teaching materials and pastoral arrangements.
Register attendance and supervise students before, during and after sessions.
Participate in administrative and organisational tasks, including supervising support staff.
Order and manage teaching equipment and resources.
Attend assemblies and relevant college meetings.
Assessment & Examinations
Prepare students for public examinations.
Assess students and provide written and oral reports and references.
Support examination supervision arrangements.
Professional Responsibilities
Participate in appraisal and performance management processes.
Take ownership of continuous professional development and undertake relevant training.
Maintain good order and discipline and ensure student health, safety and safeguarding.
Contribute to staff meetings and wider college activities.
Cover
Provide supervision or teaching cover where required in line with college policy and national guidance.
