If you have experience of working with SEND learners, value personalised support and helping young people exceed their own expectations, this could be your next role.

At Undershaw, an Ofsted Outstanding specialist provision, we are seeking a Post 16 Job Coach and Teaching Assistant with Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead responsibility, to join our warm, reflective and ambitious team. You will work closely with our Head of Employability and Post 16 Teacher, supporting students across classroom learning, pastoral development, and real workplace experiences.

Our Post 16 learners have mild to moderate learning difficulties alongside needs such as ASC, hemiplegia and medical vulnerabilities. In our calm and nurturing environment, students access Functional Skills, Level 3 NOCN vocational learning, the HPQ or EPQ and a rich programme of independence and employability education.

You will

  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to develop employability and independence skills

  • Coach students in real workplace settings and maintain strong partnerships with employers

  • Offer high‑quality learning and pastoral support under the direction of the P16 teacher

  • Liaise with families, therapists, teachers and external agencies to ensure joined‑up provision

  • Hold responsibility for safeguarding as the Deputy DSL for the P16 pathway

You will be

  • Passionate about helping SEND learners build independence, confidence and resilience

  • Skilled in nurturing relationships and championing student wellbeing

  • Flexible, reflective and committed to personalised approaches

Undershaw can offer you

  • A place in a committed, values‑driven and “Outstanding” team

  • A community where your voice is heard, valued and trusted

  • Regular opportunities for CPD

  • Small class groups and a highly supported environment

  • An Employee Wellbeing Scheme (including virtual GP access)
