Early Years / Pre-Reception Class Teacher

Location: North London
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start: September 2026

We are seeking an outstanding Early Years / Pre-Reception Class Teacher to join our ambitious and nurturing school in North London. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled Early Years practitioner who thrives in a dynamic, high-expectation environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional early education.

Our school prepares children for entry into many selective schools across North London and beyond. The curriculum is accelerated, with children often working around a year ahead of age-related expectations, while remaining firmly rooted in play-based, developmentally appropriate Early Years practice.

The Role

You will:

  • Lead a Pre-Reception class with warmth, creativity, and high expectations

  • Deliver an engaging, play-based curriculum within an accelerated academic framework

  • Prepare pupils for 4+ assessments and selective school entry

  • Create a rich, language-led, curiosity-driven learning environment

  • Use high-quality assessment to track progress and plan next steps

  • Work closely with parents to support each child’s development and transition to Reception

  • Contribute to the wider life and culture of a high-performing school

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has proven experience teaching Reception (essential)

  • Has excellent Early Years knowledge and a strong understanding of EYFS best practice

  • Can skilfully balance accelerated academic expectations with play-based learning

  • Has in-depth understanding of child development and early literacy and numeracy

  • Is confident preparing pupils for selective school entry and 4+ style assessments

  • Is reflective, organised, and committed to continual professional development

  • Brings energy, warmth, and high standards to the classroom every day

We Offer

  • Highly motivated, bright children who love to learn

  • Supportive leadership and a strong team culture

  • A well-resourced Early Years environment

  • Ongoing professional development

  • A school with a strong reputation and ambitious outcomes
