THE ACADEMY
GEMS World Academy–Dubai (GWA) is a private, co-educational IB World School for PreK to Grade 12 students, established in 2008 as part of GEMS Education. Authorised to deliver the PYP, MYP, DP and CP programmes, GWA is also accredited by the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

THE ROLE
Our Primary department has transformed student outcomes and succeeded in inspiring a love of learning at GEMS World Academy. This has been achieved through the dedication of staff, their exceptional subject knowledge, and the department’s forward-thinking approach to data and the curriculum. The Inclusion department is highly regarded among our student body for the care and personal support offered to students.
We are now seeking an innovative PYP Student Counsellor to join our successful team from August 2026.
SKILLS
The ideal candidate should have a strong track record in effective provision of counselling and guidance to students. While experience in the IB Middle Years and Diploma programmes is preferred, outstanding Student Counsellors from any curriculum background are encouraged to apply. Alignment with the IB philosophy and commitment to the Learner Profile values are crucial. A genuine passion for working in a non-selective and culturally diverse community is also a key requirement. Additionally, the candidate should possess:
A certified professional qualification at degree level, such as BA, BS or equivalent specialism in Counselling
A minimum of 3 years experience as a School Counsellor, ideally within an IB curriculum school, however, this is not mandatory
Availability from August 2026
The experience, personality and educational philosophy to continue to drive the education agenda at this flagship GEMS IB World School, catering for students from over 100 countries

Candidate Requirements
- A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
- A minimum of 2 years verifiable post-qualification teaching experience.
- Demonstrable track record of excellent student outcomes.
- A bachelor's degree directly related to your teaching specialization.
- Clear criminal record check spanning the last 10 years of residency.
