We are seeking a committed and proactive School Attendance Officer to join our team. This is a vital role within the school, focused on improving student attendance and punctuality, supporting families, and ensuring all students have full access to education.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining high standards of attendance by working closely with students, staff, and carers to identify and address barriers to regular school attendance.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children, young people, or families (education or pastoral experience desirable).

• Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Is confident working independently and managing a caseload.

• Can build positive relationships with students, families, and external agencies.

• Has a good understanding of safeguarding and attendance legislation (or willingness to learn).

• Is organised, resilient, and solution-focused.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a thriving and successful, 11-16, mixed, comprehensive school, set in an enviable location at the foot of the beautiful South Downs just north of Brighton.

This school and West Sussex County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to an appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service check along with other relevant employment checks, including satisfactory references.
