About This Role

Hours: Part-time, Monday – Friday 2.30 pm – 6.30 pm (52 weeks per annum)

Salary: FTE £26,436, part-time actual £13,218, Point 20 of the Professional Services Scale.

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and proactive School Porter/Caretaker to support the smooth day-to-day operation of our school site. This is a varied, hands-on role focused on maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors. You will play an important part in ensuring the school is well-presented, secure and fully operational at all times, including during events and lettings.

What You Will Do

  • Support the day-to-day upkeep and presentation of the school site

  • Prepare rooms and spaces for lessons, events and lettings

  • Move furniture, equipment and assist with deliveries

  • Manage waste and recycling, ensuring areas are clean and organised

  • Support the maintenance team with practical tasks and minor repairs

  • Assist with event set-up, supervision and clear-down

  • Provide a helpful on-site presence for staff, visitors and external hirers

  • Open and lock buildings as required and support site security

What We Are Looking For

  • Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to carry out physical tasks

  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload

  • Reliable, punctual and able to work independently when required

  • Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and occasional weekends

  • Clear communication skills and a professional, approachable manner

  • Experience in a similar role or environment

  • Basic understanding of health and safety practices

  • Willingness to undertake training, including First Aid

  • Commitment to safeguarding and maintaining a safe school environment
