Kapiti College is an excellent school with a very collegial staff, where collaboration and support define our daily work. Our science department is strongly led by an experienced HOD and a dedicated team of assistant teachers, providing excellent leadership, resources, and teamwork to foster innovative science education. Kapiti College is seeking a passionate teacher of science to join our dynamic and well-resourced science department.
This is a fixed-term, full-time (1.0 FTE) position for 1 year to cover refreshment leave, starting at the beginning of Term 3, 2026. The primary focus is general science teaching across year levels, but it would be an advantage (not a requirement) if you could also teach senior chemistry.
Please clearly state in your application any other curriculum areas you can teach (e.g., other senior sciences, junior science specialities, or core subjects) that could contribute to a full 1.0 FTE load.
Our vision statement is "Piki tahi, eke tahi"—climb together, achieve together. We nurture wellbeing in a caring whānau, inspiring learners to pursue excellence and leave with the skills to thrive. Our direction is anchored by our four Pou:
Pou 1: Excellence and Achievement – Fostering excellence in a supportive environment to equip students for the future.
Pou 2: Well-being and Belonging – Creating a safe, inclusive space where everyone feels pride and belonging.
Pou 3: Whānau and Community Partnerships – Building strong links with whānau, mana whenua, and the community.
Pou 4: Cultural Growth – Celebrating diversity while embedding Mātauranga Māori and Parihaka Mai Ai values.
