Hours:                                Part time / full time (min 30 hours per week, five days a week)

Salary:                               Kent Range C (FTE £26,956, actual salary for working 30 hours £19,050.91)

Responsible to:                Senior Science Technician; Head of Science

We are looking for an enthusiastic Science Technician to join our team, working across all three Science specialisms, starting asap.

 

The role will be required to work across all three Science specialisms and support the teachers in the delivery of the curriculum within lessons. They will assist in the maintenance and preparation of the classrooms, apparatus and materials for staff and students, with a view to supporting safe, effective and efficient teaching and learning.

 

The candidate will have a Science qualification to at least A-level or equivalent and technician or laboratory experience would be desirable. They will have the technical competence required for preparing and ordering of materials as well as maintaining machines and equipment. They will have previous experience working with children, have strong organisational skills and have the ability work as part of a team as well as independently.

 

The Science department runs smoothly and our students achieve well across Key stages 3 to 5. Our core purpose is to fully engage all our students and ignite their curiosity and determination so they can achieve their full potential.  The Science department has eleven laboratories at the main Tunbridge Wells campus and six further laboratories at the Sevenoaks campus.   All are fully equipped for high quality teaching and learning and one laboratory is specialised for teaching A Level Chemistry.  The technician team is an established team of five, working across two sites, supporting 13 teachers up to Key stage 5. There is also the opportunity to support and develop extracurricular clubs. Following induction, full training and support is given on an ongoing basis.
