Role purpose:
The role provides classroom instruction and education principles through the Cambridge Mathematics curriculum and ensures the development of student learning, through effective lesson preparation, presentation and management of classroom activities and related assessments for IGCSE and A Level.
Key Accountabilities:
Work with colleagues to develop lessons and schemes for learning to a high standard;
Plan interesting and student interactive learning focusing on lessons;
Provide learning instruction on relevant curriculum and the use of subject-related material;
Support students according to their individual needs, differentiating for varying abilities;
Build a strong and lasting relationship with students in your classes and across the school to enhance high levels of learning;
Share teaching practice with colleagues and engage in a professional learning community, with a focus on improved quality of learning across the school;
Maintain high expectations, working on the basis that all students will achieve beyond their current expectations;
Prepare the classroom by gathering and setting up equipment essential for student learning;
Monitor inventory and source learning supplies as necessitated;
Assign and grade student projects, assignments and examinations;
Record and report on student progress;
Ensure and encourage student participation in classroom cleanliness;
Perform the role in line with the Cambridge Teaching Standards;
Attend faculty and other school meetings as a necessity by the school;
Support children during school and after school hours in extra-curricular activities;
Support children during school and after school hours through educational additional support programs as required;
Actively contribute to the HAIS monthly magazine, HAISLife;
Actively participate in personal and professional development;
Take responsibility for tasks assigned by the Principal, Vice Principal or Learning Leads;
Live the values of the Hoi An International School.
Pastoral / Student Well-being:
Interact with parents on academic and pastoral matters, including following upon student reports, parent-teacher meetings and support school calendar events;
Support the school’s pastoral and support systems designed for greater student well-being;
Create and implement sector-specific and school-wide pastoral programs and initiatives;
Act as a point of contact for students, provide pastoral care to those in your care and the school;
Design and deliver teaching techniques to effectively meet the personal, social and academic needs of students;
Ensure an inclusive environment for students in both the classroom and the greater school;
Foster positive relationships and attitudes towards all students and staff across the school;
Be mindful of your pastoral care practices and how your approach impacts students, the school, peers and the greater community.
Essential criteria:
At minimum a university degree plus a recognised teaching qualification;
Minimum three (3) years recent in classroom teaching experience;
Demonstrated experience teaching at Secondary level;
Demonstrated experience in Cambridge Education;
Highly proficient in English communication skills, both verbal and written;
Capacity to instil a high level of trust in students, parents and fellow teachers;
A willingness to be actively involved in the school’s extra-curricular activities.
Desirable:
Experience working in an international school environment;
Recent academic and pastoral leadership experience;
Knowledge of EAL teaching.
Employment requirements:
Should the successful candidate be an International engagement, a mandatory employment requirement is that they provide legalised and authenticated copies of identification, qualification, experience and probity documents as required by HAIS and local/national government bodies.
The successful candidate will be required to satisfy probity requirements, including the provision of appropriate reference checks, a national and local police check and as determined applicable Work with Children Checks.

Candidate Requirements
- A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
- A minimum of 2 years verifiable post-qualification teaching experience.
- Demonstrable track record of excellent student outcomes.
- A bachelor's degree directly related to your teaching specialization.
- Clear criminal record check spanning the last 10 years of residency.
