About This Role

SEN Teacher (Land-Based Learning) – Somerset; West Hatch TA3 5RH and Hambridge TA10 0BG

 

Salary: £27,456 - £43,014 (From 1st April: £28,288 - £44,304) | Full Time (40 hours/week)

 

Purpose of the Role

To plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching that meets the diverse needs of pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours. 

 

At Somerset Progressive School

Somerset Progressive School prides itself on being very unique. Both sites are set in rural locations on the outskirts of Taunton.  Each site offers an attractive and stimulating learning environment, combining specialised teaching facilities with local resources.

There is a high staff to pupil ratio with most receiving 1:1 tuition or working in small groups.  Pupils are encouraged to work alongside others and co-operatively in pairs and small groups, as the development of social skills and independent work strategies are vital.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering and planning lessons to support a wide range of learning styles inclusive of land-based teaching and learning through all Key Stages within horticultural and animal care

  • Providing professional learning and development for all pupils through establishing personalised learning routes

  • Helping and supporting individual pupils as required and encouraging them to research topics themselves

  • Prepare teaching materials, instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage

Requirements

  • A committed and passionate view of students with SEND

  • At least two years’ experience minimum of working in a SEND environment or similar unit/provision

  • Experience with land-based teaching is a requirement

  • QTS/QTLS is advantageous
