Purpose of the Role
To plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching for pupils with complex needs, challenging behaviours, and emotionally based school avoidance, combining in-person, virtual, and outreach teaching to meet individual learning and emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, evidence-informed lessons tailored to pupils with SEND, trauma histories, and EBSA, using both in-class and virtual platforms.
Conduct outreach sessions to support pupils in alternative settings or at home, ensuring continuity of learning.
Use assessment data to monitor pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies to support both academic and emotional development.
Promote pupils’ social, emotional, and academic growth through trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning in line with the school’s behaviour policy and Staff Code of Conduct.
Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, specialist staff, and external professionals to provide cohesive, individualised support.
Contribute to reintegration planning and re-engagement strategies for pupils who struggle to attend mainstream school.
The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS or QTLS.
Have proven experience teaching pupils with complex needs, EBSA, and challenging behaviour.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of curriculum, assessment, and behaviour management in special education settings.
Be confident in planning, delivering, and assessing teaching across in-person, virtual, and outreach environments.
Show resilience, empathy, adaptability, and a passion for supporting vulnerable pupils.
