Senior Leader | Year 5 and 6 Kaiako

We welcome applicants keen to join our committed, collaborative team at Kaikohe East School as a senior kaiako in a Year 5 & 6 class, with attached senior leader responsibilities.

The position starts Term 2, 2026.

The senior leader position would suit an experienced teacher who can build strong relationships with tamariki, staff, board, and community. Someone who is collaborative and able to support and enhance the delivery of engaging classroom programmes school-wide, particularly across the senior syndicate of our school.

The successful applicant will have high expectations for raising student achievement, excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, and a clear ability to mentor and grow staff within the team, both professionally and personally.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience in one or more of the following:

• Relationships First
• Structured Literacy
• Te Reo Māori me ngā tikanga
• Maths No Problem
• senior leadership experience
• working with ākonga who have diverse learning needs
• a connection to Tai Tokerau, and more specifically Kaikohe, to support our localised curriculum.

The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position are set by the Primary Teachers’ Collective Agreement. There are two units attached to this position.
