Ngā Puna O Waiōrea (NPoW) is seeking a SENCO for a fixed term, part-time (0.4 FTTE) position, beginning in Term 2, 2026 (Monday 20 April 2026, or as close to as possible) and ending on Tuesday 8 December 2026.

The SENCO role is designed to support students with high learning needs. This role comprises the oversight of ORS student(s) within a Rumaki setting. The SENCO role sits within a support system that extends outside of the kura. The right person needs to work within that system and lead confidently within a framework of inclusion. 

The SENCO will:  

  • support ORS students and their whanau to get the best help available;
  • liaise and work with teachers to meet diverse learning needs of ākonga; and
  • work with ILAs and other staff to develop programmes of learning.

The SENCO will have:  

  • excellent time management and organisational skills;
  • flexibility to step into any situation and find solutions; and
  • the capability to work within a kura Rumaki.
