About This Role

The role

South Hampstead High School is looking for a dynamic, energetic and inspirational Biology Teacher to join our thriving and highly successful Science Department on a maternity cover basis.

As a Teacher of Biology, you will be responsible for planning, preparing and delivering engaging and stimulating Biology lessons to highly motivated and talented students from Year 7 to Year 13, inspiring a lifelong love of science and appreciation of the biological world in our students. There is also the potential opportunity to teach Science to a Year 5 or 6 class.

You will be joining a well-resourced and supportive department that benefits from nine fully equipped laboratories and a generous budget for chemicals, equipment, textbooks and library resources. The Science Department also offers a rich and varied co-curricular programme, with staff leading activities such as Competitive Science Club, A Level extension sessions, Science Literature Club and Gardening Club. In addition, students benefit from a range of exciting educational trips, including a biannual visit to CERN and a Year 10 trip to GCSE Science Live.

We welcome applications from experienced teachers with a strong track record of success, as well as from well-qualified Early Career Teachers and graduates who can demonstrate a genuine passion for Biology.
