About This Role

Key Responsibilities

1) Teaching & Learning

Teach engaging, well‑structured Computer Science lessons across KS2–KS5 (IGCSE and A Level).

Deliver core content such as programming, algorithms, computational thinking, databases, networks, and emerging technologies.

Support digital literacy, creative coding, and responsible online behaviour across the school.

Contribute to cross‑curricular STEM initiatives, including links with Mathematics, Sciences, Robotics, Design Technology, or Humanities where applicable.

Support KS2–KS3 transition and collaborate with primary staff on age‑appropriate computing curriculum foundations.

Provide targeted academic support (clinics, revision workshops, coursework guidance) for examination cohorts and students needing additional help.

Uphold a safe, respectful learning environment consistent with RGSPP’s values and behaviour culture.

2) Curriculum, Assessment & Reporting

Develop and refine Schemes of Work, supporting the Head of Department to reflect current best practice in Computer Science education.

Assist in preparation and marking of assessments that track progress and inform personalised support.

Prepare students for public examinations (IGCSE/A Level or equivalent), including coursework or practical programming components where applicable.

Stay up to date with technological developments, software, coding languages, and global digital trends.

Provide accurate information for options booklets, the school website, and marketing materials.

3) Pastoral Care & Student Well-being

Serve as a Personal Tutor, building strong relationships with students and families.

Promote a safe, respectful learning environment aligned with RGSPP values and behaviour culture.

Differentiate effectively for students with EAL, SEND, and high‑attaining learners.

Support students who need additional academic help through clinics, catch‑up sessions, or workshops.

4) Co-Curricular & Enrichment

Lead or support technology-based clubs such as coding, robotics, esports, digital media, cybersecurity, or app development.

Support the holistic education at RGSPP through active contribution to the Co-Curricular Activities, House System and Leadership initiatives.

Encourage and support participation in competitions (e.g., Bebras, Olympiads, robotics challenges).

Organise guest speakers, STEM/Tech days, problem-solving workshops, and innovation challenges.

Develop partnerships with tech companies, universities, or NGOs to enrich learning opportunities.

5) Operational Responsibilities

Maintain accurate records of attendance, behaviour, progress, and attainment.

Contribute to departmental planning, resource development, and data monitoring.

Use school digital platforms effectively (e.g., MIS, reporting systems, online learning tools).

Work collaboratively with operations and procurement teams to secure appropriate hardware, software, robotics kits, or licences.

Support whole-school events, duties, assemblies, and emergency procedures.

6) Marketing, Admissions & Community Engagement

Support open days, taster lessons, and outreach activities that highlight Computer Science at RGSPP.

Engage parents through workshops, information sessions, or digital safety briefings.

Contribute to promotional materials, newsletters, and social media content showcasing student achievements.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

A degree in Computer Science, Computing, IT, Engineering, or a closely related field.

A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., QTS or equivalent).

Experience teaching Computer Science at KS3 and ideally KS4; KS5 or KS2 experience is an advantage but not required.

Early‑career teachers (including NQTs/ECTs) are welcome to apply.

Desirable Qualities

Experience teaching IGCSE/A Level or another international curriculum.

Interest or experience in robotics, AI, game design, cybersecurity, or digital creativity.

Experience running coding clubs, robotics teams, hackathons, or tech competitions.

Familiarity with digital learning platforms and educational technologies.

Commitment to RGSPP values and ethos.

All Teachers at RGSPP

Teach (or are available for Private Study supervision or cover) a set timetable per week.

Accept responsibilities within their department as reasonably required, including assisting with the setting and marking of internal examinations, entrance examinations, and scholarship assessments, and recording results.

Develop and share resources and good practice, contributing to departmental meetings and the online departmental handbook.

Set and mark work in accordance with School and department policies; provide constructive feedback; maintain accurate records of attainment and progress; write assessments and reports as required.

Attend meetings (staff meetings, INSET, Parents’ Briefings) and communicate with parents both at planned school events and where otherwise appropriate.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
