About This Role
De Warenne Academy have an exciting teaching opportunity and are looking for an outstanding, committed and motivated qualified teacher to contribute to the development of teaching and learning and curriculum in our Geography department, to start in September 2026 on a part-time, temporary basis to cover maternity leave.
Applications are welcome from both newly qualified teachers and experienced professionals.
Our Geography Department is a small, welcoming department with a passion to inspire pupils about the world around them. Collaboration is important within the team; supporting ideas and sharing best practice. We embed a range of local and global case studies to enable pupils to relate to geographical landscapes and deliver a wide range of topics that allow us to explore the world we live in. Strong and accessible support from the trust Directors is readily available and frequently gives teachers the opportunity to develop their practice.
Our Geography Department offers a range of inspiring fieldwork opportunities that brings learning to life beyond the classroom. pupils have the opportunity to explore the urban environments in Sheffield, investigate coastal processes along the shores of Hornsea, Mappleton and Cleethorpes, and experience stunning physical landscapes in the Peak District. In previous years, our commitment to broadening horizons has even taken pupils overseas to Italy, exploring the various physical landscapes such as Mount Vesuvius. These visits are an important part of pupils experiencing the curriculum outside the classroom and is something we are continuingly looking to expand.
Our aim is for all our students to learn in a positive, safe and supportive environment where academic achievement is celebrated and effort and attitude to learning is rewarded. Since our OFSTED inspection in October 2021, which deemed De Warenne a ‘Good’ school in all areas, GCSE results have shown a continuous improvement year on year.
We benefit from having a recently built academy situated in spacious grounds with excellent facilities including a recently built 3g astroturf pitch.
Our staff are talented and enthusiastic and have all contributed to the academy’s success story. We have a staff rewards budget and socialise both as subject teams and as a whole staff. We also have access to a staff benefits scheme.
At De Warenne, we value the continuous professional development of all our employees and recognise that our staff and students are most successful when they feel happy, valued, challenged and supported to achieve their very best.
