At Thorns Collegiate Academy, we are looking to appoint an inspirational teacher of maths to work within our maths department delivering Key Stage 3 and 4 maths.

We are looking for applicants with ambition, drive and vision who are ready to take the next step in their career and who have the skills, expertise and passion to enthuse our young people to achieve consistently high standards in this subject.

The successful candidate will be joining a close-knit team of highly professional staff who are committed to the improvement journey of a school that was judged as Requires Improvement in March 2024, after entering Special Measures in 2016.

As part of Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust, an established Multi-Academy Trust of primary and secondary academies across the West Midlands, Thorns Collegiate Academy is a school that offers progression and opportunities at all levels, and the successful candidate can expect to be developed into the best practitioner they can be.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, plan and deliver effective and high quality learning experiences for all students they teach

  • Be accountable for the learning and achievement of all students they teach

  • To liaise with teaching colleagues across the academy to support strategic development, share good practice and plan collaborative activities

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and follow school and Trust policies including the staff code of conduct.

We are looking for a passionate and creative teacher who work well within a team and who help us on our journey to provide exceptional educational provision for our students.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of teaching across Key Stage 3 and 4

  • Consistently good/outstanding teaching

  • Exceptional classroom practice, with high expectations of both learning and behaviour

  • The ability to inspire, motivate and enthuse students

  • Commitment to raising standards for all, and share the same drive to constantly learn and improve

  • A willingness to lead initiatives and show evidence of impact

  • A passion to make a difference to others

  • Proficient use of technology for learning and a willingness to innovate
