Job Detail

South View School is seeking a dedicated Mathematics Teacher to join our growing department. The ideal candidate will possess high-level subject expertise, ideally up to A Level and Further Maths, but who also recognise that the journey to advanced success begins with a rigorous and engaging Key Stage 3 foundation. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

1. Excellence in Teaching & Learning

  • Deliver outstanding Mathematics lessons, ensuring students develop both a deep conceptual understanding and a passion for the subject.

  • Adapt complex mathematical concepts into digestible, engaging learning steps suitable for the KS3 cognitive stage.

  • Maintain a classroom environment that challenges all learners, from those requiring additional support to high-attaining pupils.

2. Strategic Use of Data & Assessment

  • Use formative and summative data to monitor the progress of each cohort, ensuring every student is on a trajectory to meet or exceed their potential.

  • Implement timely interventions based on data trends to ensure no student falls behind during these critical foundational years.

3. High-Level Subject Expertise

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the curriculum up to A Level to ensure the KS3 curriculum is "backward-planned" with the highest academic rigour.

  • Provide "stretch and challenge" for high-attaining KS3 pupils, introducing them to advanced logic and higher-level thinking skills early.

4. Inclusion & Pastoral Support

  • Demonstrate an expert understanding of how to support students with additional needs (SEND), ensuring an inclusive and accessible curriculum for all.

  • Apply strong pastoral skills to support the social, emotional, and academic development of students across the school.

5. Enrichment & Professional Development

  • Lead and participate in enrichment activities (such as Maths Challenges or STEM clubs) to promote the profile of Mathematics throughout the school.

  • Clear criminal record check spanning the last 10 years of residency.
