About This Role

Te Whare Whai Hua (Teen Parent Unit based at Lytton High School) seeks a flexible, relational kaiako to join our team. We require a teacher with strengths in any combination of the following areas including, Mathematics, Technology, Art, Te Reo Māori and Life skills who has the ability to teach in a highly individualised, small-group environment, supporting students with diverse and complex needs.


The successful applicant will demonstrate culturally responsive practice, an understanding of Mātauranga Māori, and strengths in pastoral care and relationship-based teaching.


Experience in trauma-informed practice is an advantage.


Start date to be negotiated, preferably Term 2 2026.


The Role


Part time, Permanent, FTTE up to: 0.5


Key Responsibilities



  • Teach Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Certificated teacher

  • Subjects include English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts


Qualifications



  • Certificated teacher

  • Experience in trauma-informed practice is an advantage

  • Understanding of Mātauranga Māori

  • Strengths in pastoral care and relationship-based teaching
