About This Role

SNA-HCMC is looking for an experienced UNIVERSITY COUNSELLOR to commence in AUGUST 2026. Candidates should already have a minimum of at least 2 years of experience in university counselling, preferably within an international or IB school environment.

Candidates should be aware that SNA-HCMC is a member of CIS and places safeguarding and child protection at the forefront of recruitment. Job Overview:

The University Counsellor supports secondary students in planning, preparing, and successfully transitioning to post-secondary education. The role involves providing informed, ethical, and student-centered guidance throughout the university exploration and application process. Working closely with school leadership, teachers, students, and parents, the University Counsellor ensures that guidance practices align with IB philosophy and international best practice while supporting each student’s academic profile, interests, and aspirations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide individual university and career counselling to students in MYP and DP.

• Guide students through the full university application process, including course selection, timelines, documentation, and decision-making.

• Support applications to universities worldwide (UK, US, Canada, Europe, Australia, Asia, etc.).

• Coordinate preparation and submission of transcripts, references, predicted grades, school reports, and other required documentation.

• Advise students on standardized testing, entrance requirements, and scholarship opportunities.

• Communicate regularly with parents regarding university pathways, application progress, and post-secondary planning.

• Organize university fairs, information sessions, workshops, and campus or virtual visits.

• Build and maintain relationships with university representatives, education consultants, and external partners.

• Maintain accurate records of student applications, outcomes, and counselling interactions.

• Collaborate with DP/MYP Coordinators, teachers, and school leadership to support students holistically.

• Stay informed of global university admissions trends and changing requirements.

• Promote and model the IB learner profile and approaches to learning (ATL).

Job Requirement:

• Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Education, Counselling, or related field preferred.

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in university counselling or related guidance role.

• Experience working in an international or IB school environment is highly desirable.

• Strong knowledge of international university systems and application processes.

• Ability to guide students through multiple application platforms and pathways.

• Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and external stakeholders.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

• Student-centered, ethical, and confidential approach to counselling.

Candidate Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree directly related to your teaching specialization.
  • Clear criminal record check spanning the last 10 years of residency.
