About the Role

Edgeborough School is seeking a highly motivated and inspiring Visiting Music Teacher (Brass) to join our vibrant and thriving Music Department. This is a self-employed position focused on delivering individual brass lessons with the possibility of leading brass ensemble sessions. This role offers a significant opportunity to inspire pupils aged 2 to 13 through high-quality music education, contributing to the dynamic extracurricular life of the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging and tailored brass instrument lessons to pupils of all abilities, including beginners and up to Grade 8 standard.

  • Inspire pupils to achieve their musical potential and prepare them for concerts, examinations (in-person and digital), and other performance opportunities.

  • Maintain a professional and enthusiastic rapport with pupils, parents, and colleagues, ensuring excellent communication.

  • Plan and assess lessons, regularly reporting on pupils’ progress.

  • Manage and maintain the school’s stock of brass instruments.

  • Uphold and promote the values and policies of Edgeborough School.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a brass performer and teacher, capable of inspiring pupils across a range of ages and abilities.

  • Prior teaching experience and excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Competent IT skills to support lesson planning and reporting.

  • Ability to foster strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.

  • Desirable qualities include piano skills for accompaniment, experience working in a school environment, and the ability to arrange music for brass ensembles.

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development is advantageous.
