Catering Assistant

Extend Learning Academies Network (ELAN) has an exciting opportunity for a reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking catering assistant to join our successful trust-wide catering services team.

This is an ideal role for someone looking for a school catering job, kitchen assistant role, food service assistant position, or part-time catering work in Weston-super-Mare. Whether you have previous experience in a school kitchen, café, restaurant or food preparation environment, or are looking to develop a career in catering, we'd love to hear from you.

As a catering assistant, you will help provide nutritious, high-quality meals to pupils while ensuring our kitchens maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety and customer service.

Hours: 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent term-time only, 39 weeks per year, including 15 INSET hours per academic year

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing and serving hot and cold school meals
• Supporting the day-to-day operation of the school kitchen
• Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen compliance
• Cleaning kitchen equipment, food preparation areas and dining spaces
• Assisting with stock control and kitchen organisation
• Encouraging healthy eating and providing excellent customer service to pupils
• Helping create a safe, welcoming and enjoyable lunchtime environment
