Extended Provision Assistant
About This Role
Working hours: Flexible days, Monday to Friday, between 3:00 pm and 6:15 pm
Hours per week: Up to 15 hours
Location: Wantage CE Primary School
Age requirement: Applicants must be aged 17 or over
We are looking for a warm, caring and enthusiastic individual to join our after-school wraparound care provision at Wantage CE Primary School.
This is a flexible role offering up to 15 hours per week. Working alongside the Extended Provision Supervisor and our supportive team, the successful candidate will help provide a welcoming, enjoyable and nurturing environment in which children can relax, play and take part in engaging activities at the end of the school day.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Safeguarding children throughout the after-school period and following the school’s safeguarding procedures;
- Supporting the Extended Provision Supervisor and other members of the team with the day-to-day running of the provision;
- Preparing and assisting with a range of age-appropriate play and recreational activities;
- Engaging positively with children and supporting them in their play;
- Supervising children and maintaining their safety at all times;
- Promoting positive behaviour in accordance with the school’s behaviour policy;
- Assisting with registers and ensuring that children are safely collected by authorised adults;
- Preparing and serving meals and snacks while following food hygiene and allergy procedures;
- Setting up, tidying, and safely storing activities, equipment and resources;
- Communicating appropriately with children, parents, carers and colleagues;
- Reporting accidents, incidents, safeguarding concerns or changes in a child’s wellbeing to the Extended Provision Supervisor;
- Following all school safeguarding, health and safety and confidentiality policies.
You should:
- Be aged 17 or over;
- Be able to build strong and appropriate relationships with children;
- Be caring, patient and enthusiastic;
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team;
- Be dependable, organised and willing to use your initiative;
- Have effective communication skills;
- Be able to support children in their play while maintaining their safety;
- Be able to promote positive behaviour in line with the school’s guidelines;
- Demonstrate good food hygiene practices and follow the school’s health and safety policies;
- Be able to respond calmly and appropriately to unexpected situations.
Previous experience of working with or caring for children would be desirable, but is not essential. Relevant training may be provided.
You will be joining a friendly and supportive staff team at Wantage CE Primary School and will play an important role in providing high-quality care for our children at the end of the school day.
