About This Role

Head of Maths

Salary: United Learning Leadership PayScale L1 - L8 (£54,732- £63,105)

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

This is an exciting opportunity to join a school on a strong upward trajectory, with ambitious plans for the future. We are proud of our academic outcomes, the culture we have built and the opportunities we provide for our students, but we remain committed to continuous improvement and excellence.

We are looking for a Head of Maths whose values align with ours and who is passionate about securing the very best outcomes for young people. You will lead a dedicated department, drive high-quality teaching and learning, and play a key role in helping every student achieve their potential.

Our vision is simple: to provide exceptional academic achievement and life-changing opportunities for every student. We are ambitious for all young people and strive to ensure they leave us with excellent qualifications, strong character and the foundations for future success. One of the aspects of our academy that makes me most proud is our culture. The SCA Way of working hard, acting as positive role models and showing respect to all is reflected in the way our students and staff interact every day. Together, we have built a welcoming and ambitious community where students and colleagues can thrive.

Who Will Thrive in This Role?

We recognise that great leaders come from different backgrounds and bring different experiences. While the formal requirements for the role are outlined in this pack, we are particularly interested in the person behind the application. We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving the life chances of young people and who believes deeply in the power of education to transform lives. You may already be an experienced Head of Maths, or you may be looking to take the next significant step in your career. What matters most is not that you are the finished product, but that you have the character, values and drive to continue growing as a leader and are unwavering in your determination to ensuring that students achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will:

  • Put students at the heart of every decision.
  • Have high expectations of themselves and others.
  • Be resilient, reflective and committed to continual improvement.
  • Bring warmth, humility and authenticity to their leadership.
  • Be able to challenge and support colleagues in equal measure.
  • Lead with integrity and build strong relationships based on trust.
  • Value teamwork and contribute positively to our culture.
  • Have the confidence to bring fresh thinking and different perspectives.
  • Be ambitious for our students, our staff and their own development.

Above all, we are looking for someone whose values align with ours, someone who will embrace our culture, champion our students and become a valued member of a team united by purpose, ambition and care for one another.
