Salary: Scale 2 - £7,199-£7,302 per annum (actual salary)

Hours: 10 hours 50 minutes per week

Contract: Term time only

Location: Sarah Bonnell School

Reports to: Senior Lunchtime Supervisor

Sarah Bonnell School is looking for a Lunchtime Supervisor to join our dedicated team and help ensure that students enjoy a safe, positive and welcoming lunchtime experience.

As a Lunchtime Supervisor, you will play an important role in maintaining high standards of behaviour, safety and cleanliness across the restaurant, kiosk and wider school site. You will work closely with colleagues to supervise students, reinforce expectations and provide a calm, approachable presence throughout lunchtime.

Key responsibilities

As part of the lunchtime team, you will:

  • Supervise students in the restaurant, kiosk and designated areas around the school site.
  • Ensure students queue quietly and orderly when collecting their meals.
  • Encourage students to clear away trays, plates and rubbish appropriately.
  • Ensure students follow the school's restaurant rules and behaviour expectations.
  • Help maintain clean, safe and welcoming lunchtime areas.
  • Assist with cleaning up spillages and breakages and report any hazards promptly.
  • Pick up litter in and around the restaurant and kiosk.
  • Reinforce the school's behaviour expectations and seek assistance when required.
  • Identify and report potential health and safety or site hazards, ensuring areas remain monitored until they are safe.
  • Act as a calm, safe and approachable adult for pupils who may be distressed or overwhelmed, reporting concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and support other members of the lunchtime team as required.
  • Model high standards of professional behaviour and presentation at all times.
  • Promote The Sarah Bonnell Way and contribute positively to the school's ethos.
  • Undertake relevant training and professional development.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties appropriate to the role and as directed by the Headteacher.

About you

We are looking for an individual who is reliable, caring, approachable and confident, with a genuine interest in supporting young people.

  • Knowledge, skills and experience
  • An understanding of student welfare and child protection within a school environment.
  • Experience of working effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience of liaising with colleagues within an organisation.
  • Experience of working closely with young people aged 11-16.
  • The ability to demonstrate initiative and respond proactively to unexpected problems or situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to remain calm and effective when working under pressure.
