Trust Premises Manager - Altus Education Partnership

Salary: SFCA Support Scale Points 20-24 (£37,734 - £42,081)

Contract: Permanent, Full Time, All Year Round

Location: Across Trust academies in Rochdale

Start Date: As Soon As Possible

At Altus Education Partnership, we are driven by a simple but ambitious mission: to improve the lives of young people through exceptional education and strong community partnerships. As one of the most successful and rapidly growing trusts in the region, we are seeking an experienced and dedicated Trust Premises Manager to join our central team and help shape the future of our estates provision.

This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished facilities, estates, or premises professional to work strategically across our academies, ensuring that our schools provide safe, compliant, well-maintained, and inspiring environments in which students and staff can thrive.

About Us

Altus Education Partnership currently comprises five academies, including the nationally recognised Rochdale Sixth Form College, alongside Edgar Wood Academy, Kingsway Park High School, Bamford Academy and Caldershaw Primary School. The Trust is entering a period of significant growth, with further schools expected to join over the coming years, making this a particularly exciting time to become part of our journey.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Trust Premises Manager will provide operational leadership and support across all Trust academies. You will work closely with school leaders, premises teams and external contractors to ensure consistently high standards of estate management, health and safety compliance, security, maintenance and sustainability.

The role offers a varied and rewarding workload, combining operational oversight with strategic estate development. You will support schools during periods of staffing absence, lead improvement projects, undertake compliance reviews, contribute to the Trust's estate strategy and provide specialist support during the onboarding of new schools joining the Trust.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting and mentoring Premises Managers, Caretakers and Site Teams across the Trust.
  • Promoting consistent standards and best practice in estate management and site operations.
  • Conducting academy visits to review health and safety, compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Providing operational cover and hands-on support where required.
  • Leading and supporting compliance audits, inspections and statutory testing programmes.
  • Assisting with capital projects, estate improvement initiatives and long-term investment planning.
  • Supporting sustainability initiatives and carbon reduction projects across the Trust.
  • Managing contractor performance and ensuring value for money from external services.
  • Supporting due diligence, estate reviews and integration planning for schools joining the Trust.
  • Playing a key role in emergency planning, business continuity and operational resilience.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised professional with a proven track record in facilities, estates, premises or site management.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience managing premises, facilities or estates across multiple sites.
  • Experience leading and developing site or premises teams.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, health and safety and risk management.
  • Experience overseeing contractors, procurement and maintenance programmes.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as regular travel between sites is required.
  • Experience within an educational setting or Multi Academy Trust would be advantageous but is not essential.

Safeguarding

Altus Education Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

All staff are expected to share this commitment.

The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, online searches and all relevant pre-employment checks.
