Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced educator to take on the role of Curriculum/ Advanced Placement (AP) Coordinator, a 0.5 FTE leadership position combined with a 0.5 FTE secondary teaching timetable.

This role will support the development, implementation, and quality assurance of the High School curriculum, with particular responsibility for coordinating and strengthening the school’s Advanced Placement (AP) programme. The position is structured as an ongoing 0.5 FTE coordination role from the next academic year onwards.

The successful candidate will contribute both strategically and operationally to curriculum alignment, instructional quality, and university-preparatory academic pathways.

Teaching Allocation

The role includes a 0.5 FTE teaching timetable. Subject allocation will be aligned to:

  • The successful candidate’s subject expertise and qualifications

  • School staffing needs

  • Programme and timetable priorities

Candidates with experience teaching advanced, college-preparatory, or examination courses are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities 

Curriculum Leadership and Development

  • Support the design, review, and alignment of curriculum across divisions to ensure coherence with school learning outcomes and external standards.

  • Assist departments in developing course scope and sequence documents, unit plans, and assessment frameworks.

  • Work with leadership to ensure curriculum documentation meets accreditation and quality assurance expectations.

  • Monitor implementation of new courses and provide feedback to support continuous improvement.

Program Development (AP Preparation Phase)

  • Collaborate with school leadership to plan the phased introduction and expansion of Advanced Placement courses.

  • Support identification of appropriate AP subject offerings based on student readiness, staffing, and strategic priorities.

  • Assist in developing timelines, policies, and procedures required for AP program authorization and compliance with College Board expectations.

  • Coordinate professional learning opportunities for teachers preparing to deliver AP-level coursework.

Teaching and Learning Support

  • Provide instructional coaching and curriculum support to teachers, particularly in areas related to academic rigor, standards alignment, and assessment practices.

  • Assist in reviewing and refining course outlines to ensure alignment with university-preparatory pathways.

  • Support the integration of data-informed instruction through analysis of internal and external assessment results.

Data Monitoring and Academic Quality Assurance

  • Collect, analyze, and report on student performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Support the development of systems that monitor student readiness for advanced academic pathways.

  • Assist leadership in evaluating the effectiveness of new and existing programs.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with department leaders, counselors, and senior leadership to support student academic progression.

  • Serve as a point of contact for curriculum-related inquiries from staff and parents as appropriate.

  • Maintain accurate program documentation and contribute to reporting for accreditation or external review processes.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, instructional leadership, or program coordination.

  • Strong understanding of USCC, standards-based instruction and university-preparatory pathways.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to analyze academic data and support improvement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching advanced or college-preparatory courses.

  • Familiarity with Advanced Placement program structures or College Board expectations.

·       Experience supporting accreditation or curriculum review processes.
