About This Role
Overview
To coordinate the delivery, assessment, and quality assurance of BTEC programs across the institution, ensuring they meet internal and external standards, maintain student progress, and comply with awarding body regulations.
Key responsibilities
1. Program Coordination
• Oversee the planning and delivery of BTEC qualifications across relevant departments.
• Ensure that BTEC programs are compliant with Pearson (or applicable awarding body) policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with subject leaders and teachers to ensure smooth and effective delivery of BTEC units.
2. Quality Assurance
• Lead the Internal Verification (IV) process, ensuring that assessment decisions are valid, reliable, and consistent.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of assessment and internal verification documentation.
• Liaise with the External Verifier (EV) and manage the sample verification process.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of BTEC standards and communicate updates to staff.
3. Administration
• Maintain accurate records of learner achievement and progression.
• Submit registrations and claims for certification via Edexcel Online or applicable platforms.
• Ensure accurate tracking of learner progress and produce reports for senior leaders.
4. Staff Support and Training
• Support and train staff delivering BTEC qualifications, including new or inexperienced teachers.
• Organize regular standardization meetings to ensure consistency in assessment and internal verification.
5. Student Support
• Support students in understanding the expectations and requirements of BTEC qualifications.
• Monitor student performance and implement interventions where necessary.
6. Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure the center is inspection-ready and compliant during audits and reviews.
• Implement any recommendations from external verifiers or awarding bodies promptly.

To help maintain the standard of teaching while staying in line with the school’s mission, vision and values.
Be responsible for the learning, progress, achievement, and development of all students and adapting your teaching to meet the needs of the students.
Ensure that all students have equal access to an excellent education in Business studies.
To be involved with other aspects of school life associated with the Business department, for instance the Business simulation competition and other in school activities.
Participate in school duties, evening self-study, co-curricular activities, and individual tutorials where necessary.
To follow the agreed policies set out by the school and the exam boards.
To follow school policies and guidelines on such matters as reports, marking and assessment.
To be a integrated member of the team, proving support and collaboration if required, attend departmental meetings and sharing amazing practice.
The candidate must demonstrate a keen interest in ongoing professional development, showing a commitment to continually enhancing their teaching skills and subject knowledge.
Operational planning
To support the Curriculum Area and Department in developing relevant syllabuses, resources, work plans, marking guidelines, and instructional techniques.
To assist in developing and implementing the department's and curriculum area's development plan.
To organise and prepare classes and instruction. To assist in the planning efforts of the entire school.
Skills/qualifications
Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in business, accounting, economics, or a related field. Preference will be given to those with a master's degree or higher, particularly if obtained from an overseas institution.
Applicants must possess professional teaching certifications, such as a PGCE or a subject-specific teaching license.
A minimum of two years of teaching experience in international schools, specifically in the relevant subject area, is required. This experience in teaching should be in line with the aforementioned curriculums above.
Proficiency in English is a must, as it will be the primary language of instruction and communication in the workplace. A strong understanding of the importance of developing technical literacy among Chinese students learning the subject in English is also required.
Exceptional skills in academic English writing are crucial, as exams predominantly involve writing based on case studies, without multiple-choice sections. The ability to effectively teach advanced English writing skills is essential.
