About This Role

EAL Teacher 

Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba is seeking to appoint an outstanding, passionate and experienced English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teacher to join our thriving primary school from August 2026

The successful candidate will work with pupils aged 4–11 years, supporting learners at different stages of English language acquisition to develop the linguistic confidence and academic language required to access the British Curriculum

The role involves working with individuals and small groups of pupils to develop spoken language, academic vocabulary, reading comprehension and written communication, enabling students to fully access both the curriculum and wider school life. The role may also include supporting pupils preparing for Cambridge English assessments and IELTS, where appropriate.

The EAL Teacher plays a vital role in supporting pupils who are learning English as an additional language to access the curriculum and thrive both academically and socially. 

Key Responsibilities 

The successful candidate will: 

  • Deliver high-quality EAL support through targeted small-group and individual teaching 

  • Support pupils in developing the academic language required to access the British Curriculum 

  • Work collaboratively with class teachers to scaffold learning and adapt classroom practice 

  • Monitor pupil progress and implement interventions to accelerate language acquisition 

  • Contribute to the development of the school’s Primary EAL provision 

  • Promote a classroom culture of high expectations, curiosity and respect 

  • Build strong relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents 

Qualifications and Experience 

The successful candidate will demonstrate: 

  • A relevant university degree 

  • A recognised teaching qualification 

  • A minimum of three years’ teaching experience 

  • Experience supporting EAL learners within a primary setting 

  • A strong understanding of language acquisition and effective EAL strategies 

  • The ability to adapt to a fast-paced international school environment 

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues 

  • A reflective and innovative approach to teaching and learning
