Early Years Teaching and General Assistant

The Role
In this varied and fulfilling role, you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils across Early Years and Key Stage 1, including those with additional needs. You will assist with the delivery of lessons, provide 1:1 and small‑group interventions, contribute to observations and assessments, and help to promote the wellbeing and progress of all children.
Alongside classroom support, you will play an important part in the wider life of the school. This includes supervising pupils from Nursery to Year 8 during break times, meal times and late‑stayers; assisting with school trips and activities; supporting with general administrative tasks; supervising parking on the site; and helping to ensure that learning and communal spaces remain organised, safe and welcoming.
● Hours: 42 hours per week, Monday to Friday
○ Monday to Thursday 08:00-17:30
○ Friday 08:00-17:00
○ 60-minutes of unpaid break(s) each day
● Contract: Permanent, term-time only (including INSET days)
● Salary: £21,352 per annum (including paid holiday entitlement)
● Start date: Tuesday 1 September 2026
About You
We are looking for someone who brings:
● A recognised Level 3 Early Years qualification (or higher)
● Experience working with young children, particularly those with SEND or additional needs
● A strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and its application in daily practice
● Excellent written and verbal communication with children, colleagues and parents
● Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and complete tasks efficiently
● A positive, proactive and solution‑focused approach, with genuine enthusiasm for supporting children’s development
● Paediatric First Aid qualification is advantageous, although training can be provided.
