Job Title: Head of Teaching and Learning Development (English)
Location: EPG Head Office with strategic visits across all EPG branches
Reports To: Early Years Director
Job Purpose
The Head of Teaching and Learning Development (English) provides strategic leadership for high quality early years
education across all EPG early years settings. This role develops and implements high-quality EYFS-aligned curriculum
frameworks, leads instructional coaching programs, ensures consistent academic standards, and fosters continuous
improvement in teaching practices. The position collaborates closely with the Head of Pastoral Care to provide
integrated academic and wellbeing support, and coordinates with the Head of Teaching and Learning (Arabic) to
deliver seamless bilingual education.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Curriculum Leadership
• Curriculum Strategy: Develop comprehensive curriculum strategy aligned with EYFS standards across five early years
levels (Tiny Tots through FS2); establish learning objectives and assessment frameworks; monitor effectiveness and
student outcomes system-wide
• Bilingual Coordination: Collaborate with Head of Teaching and Learning (Arabic) to develop integrated bilingual
approaches; ensure smooth transitions between English and Arabic components; coordinate cross-curricular
initiatives; support effective bilingual education strategies
• Innovation & Compliance: Lead innovation; ensure EYFS compliance and international accreditation standards;
develop culturally responsive approaches for diverse communities
Leadership Development & Instructional Coaching
• Instructional Coach Management: Provide strategic leadership for all Instructional Coaches; design comprehensive
IC development programs integrating early years education excellence and pastoral care competencies; coordinate
deployment strategies across branches
• Performance & Development: Jointly conduct IC performance evaluations with Head of Pastoral Care; provide
balanced training in coaching methodologies, curriculum expertise, and student wellbeing; support IC networks for
best practice sharing
• Academic Administrator Oversight: Guide IC development of comprehensive AA and Lead Teacher training
programs; establish competency frameworks and progression pathways; support succession planning
Quality Assurance & Assessment
• Standards Monitoring: Establish and monitor teaching quality standards across all branches; conduct systematic
evaluation of curriculum implementation and teaching effectiveness; coordinate quality assurance visits and
assessments, with evidence collation delegated to Academic Administrators and Central Academic Admin
• Assessment Framework: Develop comprehensive assessment aligned with EYFS and EPG standards; coordinate
student progress monitoring; analyse system-wide learning data to identify trends and improvement areas
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyse curriculum data, student outcomes, and teaching quality metrics; implement
improvement strategies for underperforming areas; prepare comprehensive reports for Early Years Director
Professional Development & Resource Management
• Training Leadership: Design comprehensive professional development framework for EPG curriculum delivery; lead
system-wide training for teachers, AAs, Lead Teachers, and ICs; coordinate external partnerships; monitor
effectiveness and impact
• Resource Development: Oversee development and procurement of English curriculum resources; establish central
repository for teaching materials; coordinate educational technology integration; develop partnerships with
publishers and providers
• Professional Development: Design internal expertise programs across leadership levels; establish mentoring
frameworks; support teacher certification requirements and resource access
Family Engagement & External Relations
• Parent Education: Lead curriculum-focused family engagement initiatives by designing academic content and
resources for parent sessions, while Academic Administrators and Branch Managers coordinate logistics and delivery.
Collaborate with Head of Pastoral on pastoral parent communications.
• External Partnerships: Represent EPG in educational networks; develop partnerships with international schools;
coordinate with EPG Primary Schools for curriculum transitions; liaise with regulatory bodies on compliance;
participate in research initiatives
• Community Relations: Promote inclusive learning environments celebrating diversity; support culturally responsive
curriculum approaches; maintain EPG's reputation in early years education excellence
Strategic Planning & Crisis Management
• Innovation & Planning: Contribute to EPG strategic planning and long-term curriculum development; lead research
and pilot initiatives; identify emerging trends; develop proposals for curriculum enhancement; foster continuous
improvement culture
• Crisis Leadership: Provide leadership during educational crises affecting curriculum delivery; coordinate crisis
response for curriculum continuity; support branches with urgent challenges; ensure business continuity planning
includes curriculum provisions
• Professional Growth: Pursue ongoing development in educational leadership and curriculum; maintain current
knowledge of international best practices; participate in senior leadership programs; represent EPG at conferences
and professional events
Experience, Qualifications & Skills Required Qualifications
• Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field
• Minimum 8 years successful early years teaching experience with demonstrated excellence
• Minimum 5 years educational leadership experience including curriculum coordination, teacher development, or
instructional coaching
• Proven experience managing and developing educational leaders and coaching staff
Essential Expertise
• Deep expertise in EYFS framework and early childhood development principles
• Extensive knowledge of English curriculum design, assessment methodologies, and instructional strategies
• Experience in bilingual education approaches and cross-cultural educational settings
• Strong leadership and management skills with strategic planning and change management experience
