St Columba's Catholic School is located in the Frankton/Dinsdale area of Hamilton, Central Waikato. We are a co-ed integrated school, Year 1–8, with a capped roll of 500.
We are seeking a passionate and skilled teacher to join our team as a mathematics acceleration teacher commencing Term 2 2026.
The role is to support students who are not yet meeting expected curriculum levels in mathematics. The successful applicant will work with small groups of students to accelerate learning so they can confidently access their year-level mathematics programme. The majority of teaching will be Y7-8, with some teaching across Y3-6, depending on the needs of our learners.
You will use assessment information to identify needs, deliver targeted, evidence-based instruction, track progress, and work closely with classroom teachers and whānau to support learners’ confidence and achievement in mathematics.
The successful applicant will:
Have a current practising certificate with the NZ Teaching Council and currently reside in NZ
Demonstrate strong mathematics and statistics curriculum knowledge as a primary trained teacher.
Have experience supporting students requiring additional learning support.
Use assessment and evidence to inform teaching.
Be able to build strong relationships with ākonga, staff and whānau.
Be collaborative, organised and passionate about improving outcomes for learners.
Hours of work - 9:00 am – 12:30 pm
Days: Monday – Thursday
