We are seeking a passionate ORSspecialist teacher to support students with high and complex learning needs. The role focuses on ensuring ORS-funded students can fully access classroom learning through inclusive practices, targeted teaching, and collaboration with staff and whānau.
The successful applicant will work alongside our full time specialist teacher and work closely with classroom teachers, teacher aides, our SENCO and external agencies. They will help to plan and implement individualised learning programmes (IEPs), monitor student progress, and provide specialised teaching support through 1:1 or small group instruction.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the inclusion and participation of ORS-funded students in classroom programmes and school activities
Planning and delivering tailored learning programmes, particularly in literacy, numeracy, and sensory learning
Monitoring student progress and contributing to assessment and reporting
Providing guidance and modelling effective strategies for teachers and teacher aides
Leading and contributing to IEP meetings and working closely with parents/whānau
Supporting safe, positive, and inclusive learning environments
The role requires strong knowledge of the NZ Curriculum and special education practices, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a willingness to foster relationships with students, learning assistants, colleagues and external agencies.
