At Te Kāpehu Whetū, we nurture ākonga through our three pou:
Kia Māori – valuing Māori knowledge and ways of learning
Kia Mātau – fostering innovation, inquiry, and knowledge acquisition
Kia Tū Rangatira Ai – developing strong character, personal excellence, and mana
The dual-role position combines leadership and teaching: you will oversee curriculum design, student progress tracking, and programmes, while actively teaching on the floor. This includes integrated learning across literacy, numeracy, te reo Māori, and mahi toi. You will engage with akonga, whānau, and staff to create an inclusive, student-centered learning environment that empowers all ākonga to achieve their aspirations.
Essential attributes:
Fluent in te reo Māori and tikanga Māori
Commitment to the kaupapa and values of the Kura
Strong pedagogical knowledge and ability to deliver innovative, student-centered learning
Collaborative, solutions-focused, and professional under all circumstances
Desirable:
Experience in Māori-medium education
Leadership experience in curriculum design and teaching
Proven ability to integrate assessment and data-informed learning
We offer full-time employment under the Area Teachers’ Collective Agreement, with additional remuneration of 2 Units + 1 MMA.
