About the Role

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Speech & Language Therapist (SaLT) to join our Therapy Team. You will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of communication, social, emotional, and mental health needs. Working collaboratively with teachers, therapy colleagues, families, and external agencies, you will help create a holistic, integrated approach that enables pupils to communicate effectively and access learning successfully.

In this role, you will manage your own caseload, deliver high‑quality assessments and interventions, contribute to EHCP processes, and provide staff training to strengthen whole‑school communication practice.

 

Requirements

 

Qualifications

 

·         Degree in Speech & Language Therapy (required).

·         HCPC registration (required).

 

Experience

 

·         Experience working within a SEN setting.

·         Ability to administer assessments and comply with legal/statutory requirements.

·         Experience contributing to multi‑disciplinary working.

·         Experience in safeguarding (desirable).

 

Skills and Knowledge

 

·         Highly effective oral and written communication skills.

·         Strong report‑writing skills with attention to detail.

·         Confident use of technology to support innovative learning and therapy delivery.

·         Ability to analyse data and use it to set targets and identify development areas.

·         Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire pupils.

·         Strong knowledge of EHCP processes and documentation.

·         Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across teams.

·         Understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures.

Key Responsibilities

 

·         Deliver high‑quality SaLT assessments, interventions, and reviews aligned with EHCP objectives.

·         Manage and prioritise your clinical caseload according to professional standards.

·         Provide written and verbal reports for teachers, families, and external professionals.

·         Attend Annual Reviews and contribute to EHCP documentation.

·         Liaise with parents/carers to share strategies and review pupil progress.

·         Identify evidence‑based intervention approaches and measure outcomes.

·         Support the design and delivery of SaLT‑related training across the school.

·         Lead staff and therapy meetings when required.

·         Work collaboratively to reduce barriers to learning and promote pupil independence.

·         Maintain accurate records in line with HCPC and GDPR requirements.

·         Participate in regular supervision, service evaluation, and quality monitoring.

·         Uphold high standards of professionalism, behaviour, and safeguarding
