Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to the school’s commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi 
  • Develop and deliver engaging programs of learning in collaboration with the Learning Area Leader, Learning Facilitators and other teachers.
  • Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment which supports the needs of individual learners and encourages their personal growth in the subject.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to promote continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with trends and best practices within education, showing a willingness to learn.

Qualifications and attributes

  • Familiarity with the social studies/geography/history curriculum
  • Understanding of the Review of Achievement Standards and Te Mātaiaho
  • A teaching qualification with a specialisation in Geography and History
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a class in a relational way.
  • A passion for mentoring and guiding students.
  • Willingness to participate in professional development opportunities related to the social studies learning area and the wider school priorities.
