About This Role

Grange School is seeking two committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants (Level 1 SEN) to join our inclusive and nurturing learning community. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dedicated team delivering high-quality education and support to children and young people with a wide range of complex needs.

These are permanent positions working 35 hours per week, term time only plus 5 INSET days. The starting salary is £21,662 and the full time equivalent is £25,185 Grade 3.

About the role:
As a Teaching Assistant Level 1 SEN, you will work under the supervision of teaching staff and the senior leadership team to support pupils' learning, wellbeing, and development. You’ll play a vital role in helping pupils to become happy, confident and successful young adults.

Key responsibilities include

  • Supporting small groups of children and implementing Individual Learning Plans

  • Assisting with supervision during teacher absence (short periods)

  • Providing feedback on pupil progress and maintaining records

  • Ensuring equal access to learning for all pupils

  • Participating in relevant training and development

  • Demonstrating commitment to performance management and continuous improvement

  • Communicating effectively and professionally with pupils, staff, parents, and external agencies

We're Looking for applicants who

  • Have an understanding of the Teaching Assistant role and child development and learning

  • Possesses strong literacy and numeracy skills (qualified to Level 2 or above)

  • Works effectively as part of a team and is committed to high professional standards

  • Is tactful, diplomatic, and able to build positive relationships with all stakeholders

  • Has experience or a keen interest in working with children or young people with communication difficulties, severe, profound, or complex learning needs

  • Can communicate clearly and confidently in spoken English
