Inspire learning in the beautiful Diamond Harbour community
Te Kura o Te Waipapa Diamond Harbour School is seeking an inspiring and relational leader to become our next Tumuaki.
Located in the beautiful Diamond Harbour community, our kura sits at the heart of a close-knit and engaged community. We are proud of our strong relationships, our unique natural environment, and the opportunities these provide for meaningful learning experiences for our tamariki.
We are looking for a tumuaki who will continue to build trust, strengthen relationships, and positively lead our kura with clarity and purpose. As part of this process, we asked our community about what is important for leadership in our kura. They value a leader who is visible, approachable, and committed to working collaboratively with staff, whānau, and students.
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
Strong relational and communicative leadership
Expertise in teaching and learning, with a focus on improving student outcomes
Reliable management of people, finances, facilities, and health and safety
The ability to lead strategic change and support curriculum development
A commitment to maintaining and building on the school’s positive and collaborative staff culture
Genuine engagement with whānau and the wider community
Leadership experience suited to a small, semi-rural school environment.
Our next tumuaki will play an important role in strengthening student achievement, supporting student and staff wellbeing, and working alongside our community to enhance the reputation of our school to current and prospective families.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a small school with strong community support, passionate staff, and a unique place-based learning environment.
We are seeking a leader who will value our community, nurture our tamariki, and provide stable, future-focused leadership for the years ahead.
Start date: Term 3, 2026.
