  • Implement a balanced, research-based literacy program informed by the Science of Reading, including explicit instruction in phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing.

  • Implement the Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshop Units of Study while ensuring students have access to grade-level texts, explicit skills instruction, and structured literacy practices.

  • Teach mathematics using a conceptual and problem-solving approach aligned with Common Core Math Standards, supporting students in developing mathematical reasoning, fluency, and real-world application.

  • Foster strong partnerships with families and encourage parent engagement in the learning journey.

  • Participate in school events, extracurricular programs, committees, and community initiatives.

  • Engage in ongoing professional growth through coaching cycles, professional development, and reflective practice.

Teaching & Learning

  • Create a classroom environment that promotes independence, student agency, and inquiry.

  • Design developmentally appropriate learning experiences that integrate conceptual inquiry with standards-based instruction in literacy and mathematics.

  • Deliver literacy instruction grounded in Science of Reading research, including systematic phonics, morphology and word study, vocabulary development, reading fluency, and comprehension strategies.

  • Provide students with consistent opportunities to read and engage with grade-level complex texts, supported through scaffolding and differentiated instruction.

  • Implement writing instruction that develops clear thinking, strong communication, and authentic writing purposes across disciplines.

  • Teach mathematics aligned with the Common Core Standards for Mathematical Practice, emphasizing conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and problem solving.

  • Use standards-based learning targets and success criteria to guide instruction and make learning goals visible to students.

  • Adjust instruction and the learning environment in response to ongoing formative assessment and student progress.

  • Embed the IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Learning (ATL) within classroom routines, reflection, and student goal-setting.

  • Support students in documenting and reflecting on their learning through portfolios and other authentic assessment tools.
