Principal Responsibilities:
Serve as an effective and dynamic leader with a solid history of driving school improvement; you should possess a strong presence and credibility within the school community. Uphold a commitment to excellence by promoting high academic standards, maintaining high expectations for pastoral care, and providing opportunities for all learners. Demonstrate proven experience in leading and managing staff while fostering innovative learning approaches. Exhibit comprehensive and confident knowledge of curriculum delivery at KS3, KS4, and post-16 levels (IGCSE/A Level experience is essential). Show a genuine enthusiasm for the broader co-curricular activities offered by the school. Experience in curriculum planning, options, and timetabling is preferred.
You will need to effectively monitor, analyze, and establish ambitious targets to enhance student outcomes. Embody the values, vision, and ethos of WSR while partnering with the Principal and Vice Principal to develop policies that ensure high-quality results. Assist the Principal and Vice Principal in achieving key strategic goals by leading specific initiatives outlined in the School Improvement Plan.
Take full accountability for critical areas of the Secondary School’s operations, providing analytical insights on performance against key performance indicators. Oversee all elements related to CAT4 assessments, GL Progress Tests, and PASS data, and efficiently communicate this information to key stakeholders. Lead school-wide initiatives for TIMMS, PISA, and PIRL assessments while collaborating closely with the data manager and exams officer.
Ensure that all staff, students, and parents receive accurate, analyzed, and readily accessible data regarding progress and achievement at all times. Ensure that parents and students receive reports each term that are both accurate and timely. Guide the Heads of Department/Faculty and Grade Leaders in effectively sharing data, actionable insights, and development plans with other staff members. Organize parent consultation meetings each term, ensuring that all information shared is precise and timely.
Manage the Heads of Departments/Faculty to guarantee that assessments are rigorous and valid. Establish sustainable systems for external moderation of data and assessments across all key stages. Maintain an overview of all data management systems utilized by the school, ensuring they are impactful and efficient. Monitor departmental SEFs and resulting interventions each half term to guarantee that resources are used effectively.
Work with Heads of Department/Faculty and classroom teachers to ensure that class-level data management is efficient and impactful. Guide Heads of Department/Faculty to set aspirational target grades. Develop systems that provide effective guidance for students and enable accurate GCSE and A Level predictions. Regularly assess the SENCo's management of students of determination.
Contribute to enhancing standards at the school level through precise identification of needs and appropriate reporting channels for necessary actions at every level. Provide outstanding professional learning and development, in collaboration with SLT, on utilizing data in both the classroom and leadership roles. Lead key strategic developments (phase-specific) aimed at improving attainment and outcomes for all students, as agreed with the Principal and Vice Principal. Take a lead role in preparing for critical aspects of the SEF and the inspection processes and procedures.
