About the role
Aoba-Japan International School is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and student-centered IBDP Coordinator to further develop its Diploma Programme. This crucial leadership role is well-suited for an individual who combines extensive IB experience with sound judgment, relational leadership skills, and the ability to maintain high quality and consistency throughout the program.
The IBDP Coordinator will be responsible for the efficient implementation, management, and continuous improvement of the Diploma Programme in alignment with IB standards and the school's vision. Key duties encompass overseeing curriculum planning, assessment procedures, teacher support, student advisement, program compliance, and interaction with key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
The selected candidate will:

Provide educational leadership for the Diploma Programme, ensuring adherence to IB standards and practices
•
Oversee curriculum planning and documentation for the DP, including subject-specific and interdisciplinary strategies
•
Manage all aspects of DP administration, including student registration, examinations, and compliance with IB requirements
•
Lead and facilitate professional development opportunities for DP teachers, including onboarding new staff
•
Promote collaboration, consistency, and high standards in teaching and learning across the program
•
Administer internal and external assessment processes in accordance with IB expectations
•
Assist students with subject choices, academic pathways, and program requirements
•
Communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, school leaders, and the IB organization
•
Conduct information sessions and workshops for parents about the DP and its core components
•
Work closely with university guidance personnel to support student transitions after graduation
•
Contribute to strategic planning, continuous improvement, and overarching school leadership goals
•
Oversee the DP budget and ensure that adequate resources are available for successful program delivery
•
Collaborate with PYP and MYP coordinators to enhance articulation and continuity throughout the IB continuum
Candidate profile
We are looking for a candidate who has:

Extensive experience teaching within the IB Diploma Programme
•
A thorough understanding of IB standards, practices, assessment, and program requirements
•
Previous leadership experience in DP coordination or a similar academic leadership role
•
The credibility and confidence to lead colleagues and foster professional development
•
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
•
A commitment to student achievement, well-being, and the delivery of high-quality programs
•
The ability to work effectively with staff, students, parents, and senior leaders in an international school environment
Qualifications and experience
Candidates should possess:
•
A minimum of five years of teaching experience in the IB Diploma Programme
•
A bachelor’s degree in education or a related area
•
A master’s degree or equivalent advanced qualification is preferred
•
Prior experience as a DP Coordinator or in a comparable leadership position is advantageous
