About This Role

Job DescriptionBased at various locations across the City, you will work part-time, 35 hours per week, term time only.

You will teach children and young people from primary school to upper secondary and, in addition, present pupils for SQA examinations and Grade Exams. You must be confident in teaching all woodwind instruments.

You will have professional music qualifications and LTCL or equivalent.ResponsibilitiesYou will teach children and young people from primary school to upper secondary and, in addition, present pupils for SQA examinations. You must be confident in teaching all woodwind instruments.The IndividualYou will have proven and successful experience working with children and young people leading learning.

You will have evidence of knowledge of music curriculum development in Scotland and knowledge of the music circuit nationally.

You will be an excellent and experienced musician with evidence of personal professional development in a wide range of areas.

You will have good organisational skills and good communication skills (both written and oral).

You will have knowledge of appropriate repertoire for all stages of pupil development.

You will be positive and encouraging and inspire confidence.

You will be a team member, have the ability to work unsupervised and to work under pressure and work between multiple ages/stages and across settings.

You will relate well to others (pupils, staff, partner agencies, etc), be enthusiastic, tactful, tolerant, supportive, decisive and exercise sound judgement.

You will show commitment to high achievement and a willingness to keep abreast of professional development.

You will show a willingness to participate fully in the life of the Education Department Arts and Cultural activities.

A current driving licence is required.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
